# Open-source robots

24 robots you can build from published designs, the actuators in their joints and how open each one is. As of November 2026; repository stars and last commits as of 2026-11-03. Interactive version: https://actuatorlist.com/open-source. JSON: https://actuatorlist.com/api/v1/open-robots.

Inclusion rule: the mechanical design, or the full BOM plus build instructions, is public with a licence stated for those files; a code-only licence does not count. Records listed without meeting it say why under Inclusion. An open SDK alone does not qualify; actuator SDKs are scored by brand on [SDK ratings](/sdk).

## Openness matrix

Openness score = share of the eight columns that are full, with partial counting half. Each cell links to the published file or folder. Licence is full when every licence allows commercial use, partial when one is non-commercial.

- **Licence:** MIT
- **Openness:** 69%
- **Repository:** 112 stars, last commit 2026-03-09
